T.I.P.S. Training for Intervention Procedures
Staff of the SCCRAC have been trained to conduct educational workshops designed to teach servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol to prevent intoxication, drunk driving and underage drinking. Trainers from SCCRAC schedule local training sessions in the area to provide opportunities for food service establishment owners to improve the way they do business and reduce their liability. TIPS is a curriculum using video and written materials as aids in developing people skills staff already possess. Participants in a TIPS training session will learn how to : understand the current CT laws relating to liquor permits and alcohol sales; check for fake identification, document incidents, assess behaviors and provide the appropriate responses. They will also learn about the physiological effects of alcohol use.

Establishment owners enjoy reduction in their liability premiums as a result of participating in TIPS. Many states such as New York and Texas, are now requiring that liquor permittees have server training in order to receive their liquor licenses. TIPS training is available for On-premises and Off premises staff, college campuses or senior citizens. For more information or to set up a training date for your organization, contact SCCRAC at 203-776-1981 or by email at sccrac@snet.net.
