NEEDS ASSESSMENT/ASSETS MAPPING
|
|
SCCRAC has the primary responsibility for identifying the extent of substance abuse in the region. With youth as our focus, we have selected in-school surveys and focus groups as the method for determining youth knowledge, behaviors and attitudes about alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and related violence. Communities throughout the greater New Haven region are discussing how this information can help shape the prevention and interventions activities that will effectively respond to this new local information. As local elected officials, local prevention councils and school administrators review community needs and issues of substance abuse, SCCRAC will also work with them to identify community strengths. We believe that by identifying the resources or assets of local individuals, organizations and institutions, problems of substance abuse may be solved.
