A new directory listing more than 1,000 resources to give high
school aged youth information about services available to help them deal with
issues in their lives is being distributed free to more than 10,000 students in
the greater Bridgeport region.
youth yellow pages, a mini-size guide developed in collaboration with Infoline
by the RYASAP Prevention Committee, is a comprehensive directory to local
resources offering a wide range of services and information; addiction, eating
disorders, what to do in a car accident, job training, crime prevention,
entertainment and recreation are just a few of the many listed. Each section is
supported by an introduction, and for those segments dealing with risky
behaviors such as alcohol abuse, problem gambling, date abuse, suicide, warning
signs are also listed.
The directory was compiled by a committee comprised of youth and adults from
Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull who worked more
than 10 months to research and compile information about services relevant to
the needs of today’s older teenagers. Available in late summer on the RYASAP
website,
www: ryasap.org, the directory will be updated throughout the
year.
Funding was provided by the Drug-Free Communities Support Program of the Office
of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. For more information about youth
