RYASAP TRAINING DIVISION 
I. TRAINING MODELS 

RYASAP offers an array of training models that may be tailored to a group’s specific needs. A maximum of 35 people per workshop is allowed for optimal effectiveness. These workshops are ideal for individuals, groups, associations or institutions that work with youth or the community.  

Asset Based Community and Youth Development (ABCD)

A youth and community development approach based on the work of John Kretzmann and John McKnight focusing on young people’s and the community’s gifts, assets and capacities. 

As a result of participating in this training you will:

Become familiar with specific tools to perform youth and community mapping
Recognize your role in mobilizing community assets
Be familiar with resources that are available for you as you work towards building healthy communities

Youth Resiliency

Resiliency is defined as the ability of individuals to “bounce back” from difficult circumstances. Participants will learn how to apply the six principles of the “Resiliency Wheel”—(1) Increase pre-social bonding, (2) set clear and consistent boundaries, (3) teach life skills, (4) provide caring and support, (5) set and communicate high expectations, and (6) provide young people with opportunities for meaningful participation with schools, families and communities. 

As a result of participating in this training you will:
Understand how resiliency happens, according to the research
Recognize what you can do in your work with young people
Be familiar with steps that you can take to foster resiliency
Be familiar with strategies to overcome barriers to foster resiliency

Youth As Resources (YAR)

Young people are not just recipients of services provided by adults who work with them. Effective programs provide meaningful involvement for young people in the development of programs and initiatives that affect them. 

As a result of participating in this training you will:
Understand the Youth as Resources model and be able to implement it in your program.

Youth As Partners (YAP)

The key to program success is the involvement of youth in the decision-making process. 

As a result of participating in this training you will:
Be familiar with specific skills needed for effective group work
Understand the theory behind group process and leadership
Be familiar with specific group exercises that focus on project development
Be familiar with resources that are available to you as you work towards engaging youth as partners
