Friends of Recovery

Friends of Recovery (FOR), a group of people who have been personally impacted by addiction held its third annual picnic on June 21st. A great time was shared by all. A special thanks to Jean for kindly hosting this event at her lovely home on the beach.

Save the date: FOR and CCAR are co-sponsoring a workshop on The Science and History of Addiction on September 18th at Norwalk Community Technical College from 9:00 A.M.-3:30 p.m.

A special thanks to the supporters of FOR’s Youth Outreach program. Last year, the program was funded by CICLW. In the coming year, Near and Far Aid Association. Many thanks to both of these groups.

Youth 4 the Community

Are you a middle or high school student who is interesting in becoming involved in short term community service projects?

If so, contact the Coalition.

Public Service Academy

On August 16th-20th, middle school youth from throughout the region will be expanding their world by learning about community services. Participants will learn how the police, fire, court and emergency services operate. They will become C.P.R. certified and go "behind the scenes" both at Cablevision and at the Maritime Aquarium. They will also enjoy a "Bridgeport Bluefish" baseball game and lots of other fun activities. For more information, contact the Coalition. The Academy is a joint project of The Coalition, Community Prevention Task Force and the Norwalk Police Department. Special thanks to the program funders: the Connecticut Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking and the State of Connecticut Office of Policy & Management.
